SETAREH is pleased to announce an exhibition of exceptional works from the 1960s by Hans Hartung. A defining figure in the Art Informal movement, Hartung's experiments with pigment and form have received increased acclaim in recent years.
An early proponent of the abstract image, often citing lighting as a subject and major influence, the graphic dexterity of his incisive mark making reached a new level of expressivity in the 1960s. Receiving the Grand International Prize for Painting at the 1960 Venice Biennale, the recognition empowered the artist to boldly improvise directly on his canvases, engaging fast-drying acrylic and vinyl paints which were sprayed and then scratching into to realise visceral fields of visual experience.
