SETAREH is thrilled to present Light Graphics, an exhibition of vintage photographic works by Heinz Hajek-Halke. This project is developed in collaboration with Chaussee 36, Berlin, and the Heinz Hajek-Halke estate.
A distinct figure in the photographic scene of the 1950s and 60s, and co-creator of the Fotoform group which was dedicated to innovative uses of photography, Hajek-Halke’s achievements in abstract image making stand out as a significant contribution to German art. Having experimented deeply with forms of light montage, double exposures, photo collages and photo montage over several decades, it is his post-war production with light graphics which demonstrates the accumulation of his engagement with photographic process as abstraction. By pushing the boundaries of pictorial possibilities he realised images of significant resonance and power.
